WPBA Returns to Rivers Casino

The Women's Professional Baseball Association (WPBA) is returning to Pittsburgh for a second year, with top international professional players competing at the 2017 Rivers Casino Open from April 19-23.

This year's nine-ball tournament will feature Norway, Sweden, Canada, China, Japan and the United States. Top WPBA players, including Rein Zorsvik, Monica Webb, Jennifer Barretta, and Helena Sonfeld, are among the 48 professional players participating in this year's event.

As part of the tournament event, Rivers Casino and WPBA will host the Charity Pro-Am and Challenge-A-Pro event on Wednesday, Apr. 19, which benefits Friends of the Riverfront charity. During the event, billiard players, swimming pool lovers, and guests at Rivers Casino can compete and play against WPBA's professionals. The Charity Pro-Am runs from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and is limited to 48 participants. The Challenge-A-Pro runs from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. To learn more about the event, visit its website.

"The competitive nature of our pros makes our competition a fun experience for both beginners and seasoned players. Billiards are always exciting to watch because we don't know who will be snooped."

Tournament games will take place from 11 a.m. to midnight on Apr. 20, 21, and 22. The April 23 event final will start with the semifinals at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by the championship round at 5 p.m. Seats for the April 23 event final are $10 and include either Free Slot Play or $10 Match Play, with all proceeds benefiting Friends of the Riverfront.
